acid reflux disease

I have suffered from acid reflux for 9 years.

When I drink tea, coffee or eat chocolate, oranges I become very short of breath, thats the only symtom I have, sometimes accompanied by a tight feeling in the throat, I dont have pain or anything. The Doctors have said it is definitely acid reflux.

If I take the medicine the rpoblem goes away, but I get side effects, I eat apples I dont get any better.

I have given up...
