Bipolar and Aspberger's?

Does anyone have any experience with a connection between bipolar disorder and Aspberger's syndrome? Our family counselor has suggested that my 13-y.o. bipolar son may have some of the autism spectrum as well, due to his social awareness issues and other things that are hard to pin down.

Books for kids?

Does anyone know of any good books for children/teens with bp to read? I'm hoping to find something for my 12-year old bipolar son to read, so he doesn't feel so alone in this. I can find books directed at small children, but nothing for the middle schooler. Any ideas would be awesome...please? :)

How do you know when to call the cops on your child?

My son had his most destructive rage yet last weekend, and I'm still not sure what to do. I had to lock him outside to keep him from getting after my daughter, and he kicked a big dent in my car and was threatening to break windows. I knew he'd really do it so I opened the door, caught him in the safe hold, and held on for dear life while he kicked me, pinched me and tried to bite me. My sister, my parenting class facilitator and our...

This is a touchy one...

This is really hard to write about, but sheesh, who else am I going to talk to at this hour? I've been in a mixed hypomanic state for months. I already know that I'm hypersexual for a reason, and the reason is called bipolar disorder. Tonight, it almost got the better of me. Now, mind you, I have a great bf. He just happens to live in a different state. Highly inconvenient but for the most part a good thing. I've always had a hard...

Health Care Options

I'm fighting an uphill battle with my healthcare. I can't get to a psychiatrist because my insurance company doesn't have any 'in-network providers' in my COUNTY. My medications cost so much that I've had to cut corners in other areas. Forget counseling. Who can take time off work? I'm just getting by. Tonight I saw a movie that made me angry. I just watched Michael Moore's 'SiCKO'. I feel like...
