I have lost about one pound per week for the last year. This is due to Byetta and determination to pull my self together. I was having a hard time getting out of chairs for years and had all but stopped walking. I began to walk just to the corner daily. Then around the block for about a month. Then one day I took off for a cup of coffee about a mile and a half away - down hill. I did that every few days for a month or so and then I began to do it daily. I also walk 5 miles each day on the weekends. So far I have lost 51 pounds. I am 68 and have an adopted 16 year old daughter that I must stay alive to care for, for at least a few more years and I would prefer to be active while doing it. I still work 50 to 60 hours a week as a computer programmer. My last weeks A1c was 6.5 that is down from 9.9 in the last year. I am in learning mode.
I am now almost 73. I have lost 75 pounds and I take Victoza. I no longer take Metformin ER except if I eat something that unexpectedly puts me over 100. I have also cut out 2 of my three high blood pressure drugs (thank you Dr Davis) and continue with 1/2 of one of them. I still walk almost daily and I added picking up trash several years ago....and I am still working full time.
