ABOUT ME:
I am a military spouse, with two young boys, one of whom has Asperger's. I am a P.O.W. of fibro and arthritis. I also have at least one herniated disc (the jury is still debating over new MRI's). I began my journey searching for answers after the birth of my last (and final!!) child. It was a botched c-section that went horribly wrong. It took about 6 mo. to recover, or so I thought. I never really did recover. It just spiraled as time went on. We began researching MS due to the symptoms. Of course, I underwent all the standard testing. I went to numerous docs, one of whom was very patronizing and condescending. He acted as if he was doing me a huge 'favor' by running tests, just to humor me. He neglected to include the cervical area in MRI testing, which was where (two docs later) my herniated disc was found. I finally felt somewhat vindicated anyway. All the while they kept saying it was probably just Fibro. Figuring that would appease me as a diagnosis. "It's all in your head!" Sounds familiar, huh!
My husband, whom I've been with for 19 yrs, has repeatedly accused me of being a hypochondriac - seeing as how these 'professionals' could not find anything "REAL". By this, one can guess that he never really accepted Fibro as a real illness or disorder. He is starting to finally come round, but it's been a hellish battle on both fronts. I feel as tho I am battling the world with no one to turn to.
Speaking of no one to turn to, we are now a military family stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC. My hubby reenlisted after 15 yrs out of service. The economic downturn gave us no other real alternatives. I have left what little family I have left behind in Michigan. My brother and his wife and children are pretty much it for me. My brother reluctantly admitted that he is dying of a brain tumor the week we were leaving state to move to the base. So, here I am on an army base with no friends, no family, very little support - and my hubby is set to deploy to Iraq in May.
LIFE IS GREAT, AIN'T IT?
