ABOUT ME:
This is my first time visiting this website and I just became a member. I hope reading what is out there from all of you will help me through this horrible PAIN of MIGRAINES I am living with. I am at the point of giving up with medications, doctors, E.R. visits, etc., NOTHING HELPS and it feels like NO ONE CARES to even try to understand or help.
I am the proud mother of two boys and a first time grandmother of a beautiful granddaughter. She is so much fun. I want to enjoy her so much, but my MIGRAINES interfere so much. My migraines are now at the worst stage because when I am getting a migraine, for some reason is now connected with a severe pain in my whole left side; shoulder, left side of head, neck and behind my ear and a severe pain and hardness in my left eye. It is HORRIFIC. I can not do anything physically without ending up with this pain. Just yesterday I had to go to the URGENT care and receive a shot of Toradol which did not help. I have tried so much medication that I am losing hope of feeling better. Actually, I have gotten to the point in my life that I just would do anything to take this PAIN away. Insurance won't cover my IMITREX, which I have been taking for over 13 years. So I have to pay it out of pocket, 4 pills $50.00 they don't even last 3 weeks. Insurance has made it so hard to even go to doctors to have tests done and continue to find out what treatments will help. Because everything is money. I have spent so much money on doctors visit, tests, and medication with no results to getting better or finding what is wrong. I have gone to several Neurologist, and they just don't seem to help. They just treat you like another Migraine sufferer. Everyone is different. I believe there should be more out there to help treat and prevent MIGRAINES. I also believe in someway that people who suffer from severe migraines, such as twice a week or more should have some kind of disability or medical time off, because this affects your job. Calling out more than twice a week due to MIGRAINES puts you in a poor attendance status with your employer... and they do not understand. Just yesterday I had to leave sick, again, after being out sick last week due to another migraine. Though people and family try and understand, they really don't. They feel like why isn't there a way to make me feel better, a way to prevent this from interrupting our lives. You become annoying to people, especially at your place of employment when you take time off for another MIGRAINE. It is so sad when friends and families have plans and you can not make it because of a another MIGRAINE. I used to only get migraines once every two or three months, they started getting worse to once a month and now today usually every other week lasting 3 days, even with IMIITREX. Everything in my life is falling behind schedule because of this. I can not continue living like this!!!
I have always been an active and happy person and for the last 4 years I am not myself because of the pain I live with. I used to walk everyday and workout. I was always working and creating projects and home. Now I can not do any of those things, because the day after I will end up with a MIGRAINE along with the severe pain on the left side. I have gained weight because I am not as active.
All I want is to feel better, be myself again, enjoy my granddaughter and family and be able to go to work, because I do enjoy working. If it wasn't for this PAIN I would be so full of energy and life. Right now I really feel like there is nothing to look forward too, but PAIN.
I hope someday there will be a cure for MIGRAINES; because they are debilitating. It is not easy living with MIGRAINES and unless someone knows what it is like, they can not understand. Migraines ruin your lifestyle and your personality. I do believe that migraines affect your health and your mental well-being. You end up with depression, low self esteem, anxiety, even PANIC attacks, because I end up getting worse and fear the worse when a migraine is approaching. After reading a lot and researching about migraines and how they can also cause some damage to your brain, I believe this is true. Don't know how long it will take for researchers to find a cure for migraines, but if I am still around to see that day, that will be one of the greatest medical news.
Wish everyone good health and Migraine free days!!!
Martie
