ABOUT ME:

I only remember one migraine before age of 44. My migraines started with about 1 monthly and have increased to weekly lasting 24-72 hours. I have tried everything...meds for hypertension, depression, pain, inflamation, over-the-counter, allergy meds, all the migraine meds and antibiotics. I am down to only Relpax, which does work after about 4 hours, but will often return within 72 hours. The pain is usually in my left temple (piercing) with nausea, visual problems (including tearing of left eye,) and feeling seriously ill (like I will die) and can include neck, shoulder, back migraine pain on left side. When it eases off, I feel fairly normal but still have pressure in left sinus area and ear that never goes away. If I don't take Relpax the pain gets so severe I start thowing up and end up in the ER. This is a big problem as I don't have insurance and the Relpax costs me more than $20 a tablet. Before migraines I never got sick except for typical flu, colds. My mother told me that when I was 2 I had encephalitis, but have no records to prove this. I did have sinus infections after a cold a couple of times. Since I started getting migraines it seems like I have chronic sinus infections. My neurologist said it is migraines, not sinus infections...but it improves if I am on antibiotics for a while. For example if I am taking antibiotics for 10 days I rarely have a migraine. I was told that it is because the antibiotic reduces inflamation. I have had CT scan, MRI, EEG, Allergy tests, Labs done that show nothing. I have seen 4 ENT's, 2 Allery/Sinus MD's, a Neurologist and more MD's than I count.
