Ironman World championship Kona Oct 8,2011 FINISHER!!!

It's march of 2003 and after a lot of doctor visits, My doctor tells me I have RA, with a SED rate of over 250, He puts me on an agressive 14 mg methotrexate plan.
While in a full blown flare up I learned to deal with great pain, and with putting fake smiles on my face so my children and wife can get through there day without worring about Me.
I couldn't kick a ball to my eight year old son in the park, or...

2011 Ford Ironman world championship, thanks for the gift RA

I won a lottery slot for Ironman 2011 at KONA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It has still not set in as of yet however as time passes I know much training is still needed and it will set in.
I don't have many words to say right now so I'll leave with this, In 2003 I was very sick, I had RA with a sed rate of over 250 the doctor had me on 14.5 of methotrexate.
It was hard to walk and also hard to do the simplest things that we all...

Ironman training saves me from expensive and dangerous drugs.

Just found another atricle on suppressed immune systems because of extreme training. When will doctors see the correlation and not prescribe meds but tell you while your in pain now you need to sign up for an Ironman or a marathon, Would that be take two marathons and call me after you cross the finishline??
I've been in remission for about seven years from Rhumatoid arthritis and I kinda fell into running even though I was a...

More research on extreme exercise and the breaking down of ones immune system.

I found this article today and again I feel this is working for me. Im in remission from RA and now only taking folic acid as my meds and a dose of an ironman training. I pulled part of the aritcle from an ironman website writen by Christopher Jenson a nutrition and epidemiology researcher.
Endurance exercise and catching a cold often go hand-in-hand. Researchers following ultra-marathon runners...

Making time for exercise so RA doesn't make time for me.

When I was dealing with Ra I remember I had to climb stairs one step at a time, I had to lay my socks on the carpet and push my foot into it becaues I couldn't grasp, I had to remove my laces from my work boots and only use rubber bands to keep them laced.
A simple trip to the restroom for most healthy people is mostly a inconvenience at best but for me It had to be a very well planned trip, every step hurt,...

Ironman and RA ?

Well here I am, about 7 weeks away from My little 1/2 Ironman (70.3) in Oceanside, Ca. Wetsuit fits good, Bike rolls good and shoes are new, what more could a guy ask for ? Yesterday on my run as I was french kissing my shotblok I figured I was well on my way to completing this race. I felt that I have been training for this since 2003. Endurance of eight marathons and a little help from the RA fairies that taught me that true...

Marathons (7) RA (0)

This weekend was San Diego Rock and Roll Marathon. Before Ra I was a person that did nothing in the way of exercise. Running was regression in my eyes, with cars and bikes why run? Now in remission for a few years there is still days my joints remind me of the battle inside.
I keep my immune system down by running myself into the ground with exercise and a marathon every six months. I get to the starting line...

Has Running for me stopped my RA ?

I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in April of 2003, before then I was not very active and did not play any sports. When I became ill I could not walk very well, My knees were very swollen and everything hurt. I found myself using the handicap restrooms and never realized how important those hand rails are or even the height of the toilet seat, but without those modifications I would have had a more difficult time taking care of myself....
