I am a classic child of the 60's who went most of my life without being properly diagnosed and treated for chronic, classic migraine pain. In my late 30's I tried the new triptans and they did wonders. In the beginning, they did the trick and my headaches were predominantly around my clycle(day before, day of and day after), but over the years my migraines have increased in frequency. I tried Topomax in addition to most all the triptans, and found it did nothing but wreak havic in my already overloaded system. The bad effects of it were too much, and it did not reduce my migraines. I am doing all I can to reduce triggers I HAVE control over, but there are always those I DON'T, so it is a day-to-day evaluation, which can be stressful itself! I know I am not alone, which helps, but now I have an even greater concern, as my young girl now shows signs of chronic classic migraine as well. I know there has not been a lot of attention given to adults with migraine, let alone children, but at least the world is starting to change. My focus is on education and awareness so she will not suffer the way I did.PHOTOS:
