Beta Blocker

I was put on generic Toprol XL back in April. I was in the hospital for panic attacks and my heart turned out to be ok. Now I feel stuck having to take this medication because my body is used to it. I should have turned it town when it was first prescribed and tried to bring it down naturally. Has anyone had this dilemma and been successful in weaning of this medication?

Thanks,
