ABOUT ME:

I developed RSD when I was 19 years old (I am 24 now); it began in just my hands. It took two years to receive the right diagnosis and by that time I was already long past the "usual" treatments (nerve blocks)was in and both my arms and full legs (from hips to toes). It's still spreading, to shoulders recently and crawling up and down my back. Two years ago I was also diagnosed with fibromyalgia when I started having increased but different pain in my legs. Currently I am going through ketamine infusions at GWU Hospital in Washington DC with Dr. Chin. I am somewhat hopeful about them if I can get enough time on the ketamine with the cycle broken to have a more lasting effect. I knit when I can to keep myself sane, listen to a million books on tape, snuggle with my perfect cat, and cook when I'm up for it. I have a really supportive family, four older siblings and two great parents. I have seven nieces and nephews, one of which lives close enough to me that I get to see him almost every month. He (and his parents of course) is a ray of sunlight in my life and he just turned one. :)
