I was diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic reaction in 1971 at 15 because of my actions in a courtroom and spent 3 years in a hospital on meds. After release I joined the United States Marine Corps and did great for almost 2 years until I was charged with a crime I did not commit and sent to correctional custody and started  hearing and talking to the man I had killed 7 years earlier. Doctors did not believe me and got me to talking and  impressioned me with passive-aggressive personality disorder and 4 months later after a fight up the chain of command, I recieved an Honorable discharge. I am now clean and sober and learning more about my illness and trying to learn how to live with it better and also better myself and my place in society. Upon release from the hospital, I was deemed non- psychotic and non mentally ill. Now I am psychotic and severely mentally ill. I must take heart and with hope, I will recover outstandingly. Thank you Dr. Fred Frese and John Forbes Nash, Dr. JA Hobbs who finally got me to talking and Dr. Carol Wright-Buckley and Dr. Nic for letting me know that I can live with this illness. My doctors are great and they have directed me to learn more about my illness now diagnosed as schizoaffective disorder and i have and will learn more. I am now clean and sober for two years and have not smoked a cigarette in six months.My mental health counselor, Mrs. Phyllis Bonds is very very good and is not judgemental but more open minded and emparts to me only words of encouragement and for that I am also truly grateful. Time for a update. I am now clean and sober for 4 years 4 months, still cigarette free and living independently. i am in college and having a rough time but I will not quit. I am a certified recovery specialist and dreaming of going all the way to Ph.D. of Clinical Psychology.
