ABOUT ME:

I am going to be 58 in January,09. I have been married to my husband for 39 years, we lost our house this year, our credit also and my husband nearly died due to mismanagement of his metformin and misdiagnosis of it at the small town local hospital, and one of our sons moved us here and didn't allow for the possibility we would need our independence--made us leave everything we'd have needed to set up housekeeping here, so when we chose to get an apartment--tiny one bedroom-less than 800sq.ft- it is forcing us to live in poverty and worry about choosing between food, meds and things we need for the first time in our lives. My husband has lost from 270#'s to 188#'s and I have lost from 312#'s(I am 5'1) to 155#'s and I have been diagnosed with osteoporosis, IBD(I am already missing my sigmoid colon and my gallbladder). Getting older is not fun. Having few resources to get what we need because the income we have is $30.00 over the poverty level disqualifies us for help with food, rent, utilities etc. makes life even more difficult.I would love to sew, but have no sewing machine or serger or sewing supplies like I used to have. I can't even take in clothes or remake them into wearable ones. Today, we have $1.60 to our name until we get our SS money on Firday and then it is all spoken for and I am trying to figure out how we will eat. I came from a lagrge family--oldest of 6 kids. I am used to "making do', but there is nothing left to make do with any more. My faith is strong adn I am looking forward to God's Kingdom bringing about the changes needed to solve these problems because men have failed to do so, but living until then is a real painful exoerience during the"golden years" of our lives. In my photo, I was 20 years old and holding the son who helped get us in this shape. He was 2 months old. I have to figure out how to get my laptop's web cam to work so I can get some more current pictures.
