Avodart after radiation treatment?

I hve been taking Avodart for 7 months, including during IMRT, which ended in mid June. My new urologist says I am wasting money on Avodart, because after radiation, all the prostate cells are dead anyway, and Avodart won't affect anything.
Is the Avodart really doing nothing for me?
