Medications for RA,  nutrition,  diet and exercise

Methotrexate 20 mgs. per week,  2 mgs Folic Acid daily

I have had my RA diagnosed about 5 years ago but didn't get treated until about 3 years ago. Fortunately, I have not had too much damage to my joints because my RA has not been too aggressive. I lost 40 lbs. in about 8 months by exercising and eating sensibly. I still exercise at least 3 times a week. I joined this blog because I just started losing my hair, the photo is my hair BEFORE it got thin and frizzy and started falling out. I am widowed for 16 years and have a 30 year old son with whom I live. I have many hobbies and use my hands a great deal, so it's important that I control my RA. I alos have Sjogren's (little tears and saliva) that is common with RA. Lately it seems I have to choose between having my hair or have swollen, painful joints, esp. my hands. I try to be proactive about my illness, as we all should. We can't leave everything up to the doctors, and I won't accept everything they say as gospel, either. They didn't even tell me about the side effects of MTX, and now I am paying for that ignorance on my part. Well, hopefully I can assist others by letting them know about my travels on this RA road.
