Things Not to Say to a Migraineur: A Poem

It's just a headache: take a pill!
Take a nap! Are you whining, still?
I don't believe you're really sick: two aspirin will do the trick!
It's probably just stress, you'll get over it!
You just need more calcium, more water, and you need to get fit!
I don't empathize with you when you say you are sick.
I think you're using the system and that you're really slick!
It's not a disease, you just want some pity!
You just want to stay at home,...

Spring Surprise

Spring Surprise

So many
Endless days.
Gray drear,
Cold like a blanket around me.
Then,
A flash of red at the feeder:
Springtime visitor,
Blue ceiling,
Green floor,
Another flash of color! A blossom?
Oh wait. Don't get too excited.
That unfolding sparkle of color
Heralds not the oncoming pleasures of Spring,
But the inevitable sorrow of
Migraine.
