ABOUT ME:

Talk about waiting a long time for a diagnosis, I wasn't diagnosed until I was 55 years old. Am now in my mid 60's. I was first diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and shortly afterward with Bipolar Disorder. I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM OTHERS WHO HAVE BOTH FIBROMYALGIA AND BIPOLAR DISORDER. In my experience this seems to be common, especially in women.

One thing that has helped me keep going, like an energizer bunny in slow motion, is the thought, "THIS...IS...ONLY...TEMPORARY." And it is. Also, having a child and a grandchild have kept me, in dark, depressive times, from suicide. The hardest times are when one has to keep trying over and over, different meds and different dosages in order to find the right ones. It seems unending. This is very tough. The right doctors and a supportive therapist can be invaluable. Don't give up, hang on, keep going because it's WORTH IT. If you have to grit your teeth, do it. Get a night toothguard from either a dentist or your local pharmacy so you can keep your teeth! I'm not kidding. Find supportive, positive people you can trust and talk to. Join a support group. Cut negative people and situations out of your life. Do these things to survive and keep your sanity. Allow noone but well qualified doctors to diagnose and medicate.

Do something creative for yourself. At the present time, I enjoy taking photographs, writing a bit, doing pen and ink watercolors, and designing business/personal cards and postcards for friends and myself on my computer (you can get the templates free from Avery.com). Most of us are incredibly creative people, artists, writers, etc. I can relate well to these types of people and would like to hear from anyone who is creative, or just any person with Bipolar Disorder who'd like to communicate. Don't forget, Fibromyalgia, too. I also love animals and have three beautiful housecats, belong to an organization that is working to save the wild horses of our country, and am all for saving the environment.
