My name is Shelby! It's been so so so long since I've been on this site and posted anything! My semester is over and I want to get back into writing about Diabetes, especially since I'm in my second year of college now. :)

I'm 19 years old and I live in St. Louis, MO. I have had type 1 Diabetes for 13 years. I'm a second year double major in Dance and Business Management at the University of Missouri - St. Louis and I'm loving it! My goal after I graduate is to go into the Event Planning field. I'm a Resident Adviser in my Res Hall (dorm). I teach dance to little kids at a local studio two nights a week. I intern with the STL chapter of JDRF as their Advocacy Coordinator. I also intern with a dance convention called The Pulse on Tour, which is based out of NYC, where I have been living the past two summers. I travel with them during the school year to different cities around the country to work events and such. It's a blast! As you can tell I'm a super busy girl, but I love life and I'm determined to live every second to it's fullest. :)

At times I absolutely despise my diabetes, but then I always remind myself that God gave me it for a reason and I should embrace it. I havn't figured out that one reason yet, but I do everything I can to take care of myself, help others, raise money for a cure, and spread awareness of our disease. I'm very outgoing and love talking and meeting new people, so don't hesitate saying hi! : )
