ABOUT ME:

I had headaches as a child & was diagnosed with Chronic Intractable Migraines later. Things have only gotten worse as I've grown older. I've tried a variety of preventative medications, for years at a time before giving up, only to come out of hiding a couple years later, looking for the latest developments, begging for help. Two years ago, my neurologist told me to take time off from work to try a new therapy regiment. I got fired. I turned to Social Security & was accepted at the end of spring. These have been some of the hardest years of my life. I'm lucky. I have a mom & siblings. Four years ago, our father was diagnosed with 3 cerebral aneurysms & suffered a stroke. We all moved in together to care for him at home. He died two years later, then we moved from the East Coast to Alaska. It's been 18 months. We almost lost our mom to kidney failure in May. Her diagnosis of End Stage Renal Disease has rocked our world once again. Our brother's daughter has severe epilepsy & Cerebral Palsy. We are five adults & two children trying to make the best of it. It's difficult to keep track of time when you measure it by the minute. One minute, you're riding home from dialysis with weak sunshine filtering through the stark trees & the next your head is exploding with pain & you're retching on the side of the road. It would really be nice to prevent this scenario from repeating over & over again. I only discovered this web site last month & already I've learned more than I ever knew before. I hope the same can be said for others. The Internet has become my lifeline. Without it, I wouldn't know about this community. I would still be hiding in the silent, painful darkness of my own little world. I'm glad you're here!
