I began my slow-dance with MS in September of 1996. Although I am not taking any MS medications now (due to a doctor's recommendation), I have taken Avonex, Copaxone and Rebif.
Yes, I have taken so many shots--I'm like a human dribble cup!
I have done the IV steriod treatments in the past as well as apitherapy (bee venom therapy) since 2002.
I get Botox treatments every three months for spacticity. And I wear a Dynasplint to bed every evening. (It is an 8lb "boat anchor" on your leg to correct foot drop!)
I am a strong believer in eating right and exercise. (It makes me feel better than ANY medication!)
I lost my job in Feb of 2009 (didn't everyone?) and went on Disability later that summer. I also started a humor website My Odd Sock.com. The writing is therapy to me while providing laughs to those who struggle with MS.
I don't claim to be an expert. In fact, at My Odd Sock, I often say "I am an expert on nothing--only an idiot on everything." Thus, my writing is from my experience only, straight-forward, in a tongue-in-cheek style.
I give you honest words with a twist of humor.
Enjoy
