*DEALING WITH RA*

I was born in San Juan, PR and moved to south Fl in '93. I have a wonderful family and a beautiful baby niece who is just turning two months. I try to stay positive in the mist of my illness. It's been a journey these last few months that I have been sick and in a way disabled. I feel so helpless at times since I can't drive or walk without crutches. My hands hurt a lot and I am not always in a good mood. I haven't been out much in the last 3 weeks so I spend a lot of time in my bed. I miss singing on stage and it has been a struggle to not be able to be the active independent girl I have always been. I realized I took my youth for granted and now that I have been bed ridden for weeks, I can count my blessings and appreciate life more. Fighting with my inclinations to become depressed and bitter, I strive to make the best out of everyday and take it a step at a time. I am so thankful for a supportive family who has been taking care of me, and true friends who have stuck by my side. Most of all, I have been able to draw from my faith in God which gives me the strength to fight this illness and not give up hope.
