Hi, I’m Siri Carter. I was born and raised in Marshfield, Wisconsin. I was diagnosed with asthma at three years old and have dealt with a moderate case of asthma ever since. When I was in first grade, my dad and I decided to write a book about asthma for children like me. I’m Tougher than Asthma (Franklin Watts, ) helped me learn more about asthma and how to fight it. (You can order a copy by following the link on the Health Central asthma site.) I’ve read the book at schools and libraries. Even today, I receive letters and calls from kids with asthma and their parents. I’m happy to answer them all.I’m now a freshman at the University of Wisconsin—River Falls. I love music (I play the oboe and half a dozen other instruments) and animals, particularly horses. I’ve been competing in horse shows and gymkhanas since I was twelve. I won two riding scholarships and currently ride for the horse team at River Falls. I’m not sure about my career plans yet, but I’d love to combine music and animals in a therapy program for people with physical and emotional challenges.
