Consistent TMJ pain for over 6 years...I'm looking for any information on successful treatments for anteriorly displaced TMJ discs. Other terms for this condition would be closed lock, or disc displacement without reduction or partial reduction. I've tried acupuncture, herbs, and some physical therapy, but I am especially curious if anyone out there has had steroid injections through arthrocentesis. This seems like one of the less invasive procedures and my doctor claims that it is very common and 95% of people who receive the injection experience some pain relief. However, I have read some articles online that claim it can completely ruin what is left of one's bone and tissues. I'm looking for anyone who can sympathize with the pain I experience, who is willing to exchange stories/ideas, and who might be able to better inform me of the procedures available for my condition or similar TMJ disorders.Always trying to keep positive...
