ABOUT ME:

Hello!  My name is Melissa, and I'm a wife of almost 25 years, mother of two (Jennifer, 19 and Jason, 17) and also a Broker/Owner of a real estate franchise in North Carolina, responsible for the recruiting and training of new agents, along with many of the daily activities of real estate brokers.  I have the most wonderful family imaginable, and they have supported me unconditionally during the past 10 years since I began suffering from migraines.  I absolutely love my job, but have great difficulty performing it due to my chronic migraines, some of which have durations of 4+ months.  As most of you would probably agree, even more devastating, though, is the time I have to spend away from my family - closeted in a dark, cool room, praying for relief from this unrelenting pain.

The onset of my migraines was a complete hystorectomy, followed by hormone replacement therapy that went horribly wrong.  After two years of HRT, my estrogen levels went out the roof - rising to over 800.  I have suffered from migraines ever since.  I've been to more neurologists than I can remember, tried every drug and treatment known to man, and still they persist.  I'm currently working with a group out of Greensboro and we're trying Trigger Point Injections along with a very aggressive protocol of medications to attempt to relieve this migraine I've had every day since the week before Thanksgiving.

I'm truly excited to have found a forum such as this.  I know from some time I spent in the hospital in Chelsea, MI that being able to communicate with others who share your experiences is a powerful thing.  I look forward to hearing from and sharing with many of you.

May you have a head-ache free day!!
