ABOUT ME:

Charles Whitcomb is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine in Davis, California. His work there involves patient care, clinical research and teaching residents and fellows. Prior to coming back to the University for his current full time academic appointment he was in private practice in Chico, California. Much of his earlier work involved coronary intervention and he is still in involved in the research and clinical acitivities in the heart catheterization laboratories at the University of California. More recently he has focused on coronary risk reduction particularly in patients with metabolic disease (obesity, dysmetabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes). He believes that aggressive management of blood pressure and lipid abnormalities through lifestyle change and drug treatment is the key to prevention of heart attack, stroke, and premature cardiovascular death. Dr. Whitcomb attended Pacific Union College in Angwin, California and completed medical school at the University of California, Davis. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles and a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at UC Davis. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology. He lectures widely particularly in the areas of blood pressure control, lipids and prevention of vascular disease in dysmetabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes. He lives with his family in Davis California.
