I am married! I fell at work on Feb 2,2009 and it changed my life forever! I fell on thick ice and all the laws of physics were at play that day because I blew out 13 discs, fractured T10 and completely severed the tendon in my Right shoulder! I have had 5 discs in my neck fused with $20,000- of Titanium in there! I need another fusion (lumbar) from L1 down to S1 and I don't want to do it! I had my shoulder done first and of course it was a MESS- 3 hr in surgery! I am extremely fortunate to have a very gifted Surgeon just outside of NYC! I am only 2yrs into this and I knew immeditaely I had to keep my Spirit high! Especially hard- I was a mountain climbing, mountain biking, swimming, running athlete and all of that was taken away! I allowed myself time to grieve the loss of who I was and then set out to re-define myself! It's the only way you will survive!
