ABOUT ME:

I'm an "Expert" over on the main Diabetes page (mydiabetes.com). I am a teacher, writer and poet, not a health practitioner; I believe only YOU are the expert on your own body--everyone else is a supportive partner on your healthcare team. I'm also a identical twin dx'd with type 1 diabetes three and a half years after my sister's own diagnosis at age eight, and have been pumping since 2008. I have lived,worked, studied, taught volunteered and traveled in over 25 countries including rural India, Taiwan and Europe. All with diabetes. -----2010 marks my 21st year with diabetes. ----- I'm just one of many brave young women living well with type 1 diabetes. I believe in candor and honesty. You can't change what you don't acknowledge. Diabetes is hard. We need support, empathy and knowledge. Sometimes a nudge or two in the right direction. Or a hug.
