ABOUT ME:
In June of 2009, two days after my daughter graduated from High School, I was diagnosed with Infiltrating/Invasive Lobular carcinoma. I had a mass in the upper quadrant of my right breast that was examined two years prior on a mammogram. At that time there was no expression of alarm or follow up testing, and I was told we would keep an eye on it. This past December, I felt the mass was bigger and appeared to be growing over to the right quadrant of the same breast. Went for a referral for a mammogram after being told I couldn't have one without it... was sent the following week for an ultrasound which resulted in a biopsy. OUCH! Three long days later, the news!
I then met my team of doctors all within a week, had more tests done, and scheduled surgery for a month after diagnosis. A bilateral mastectomy. Three weeks later, I started AC treatments for chemo, one time every two weeks for a total of 4 treatments. Weekly Taxol treatments followed for twelve weeks. Minor surgery on my big toe nails as well as neuropathy in my feet, were results of taxol treatments. Currently, I am completing my 28th daily treatment of radiation. I will start Tamoxifin on 3/23 and take it for the next five years of my life!
I have found support in my family and friends through blogging. Check it out: tutspinkribbon.blogspot.com and read my story!
My team of doctors, nurses, receptionists, dieticians, and social workers from St. Francis in Federal Way, have been amazing and have always left me with confidence and assurance!
