Recent Solar Storm

Hello everyone,

I do not know how many of you have noticed that the Earth’s magnetic field took quite a beating from the remnants of a recent Solar Storm. The bulk of it came on Thursday, March 8, 2012 and I was wondering how many of you felt it, as far as your migraines (or any other condition) go?

Both I and my mother were lucky enough not to experience any breakthrough migraine, but I know that a couple...

Yoga, meditation and my Migraines

I know most people have probably heard of the physical and emotional benefits of Yoga but I am shouting from the roof-tops: It is true; it is all it’s cracked up to be. Well, at least in my case.

I think the first benefit is the physical. Yoga provides a good workout if you want it to, in my opinion a high intensity yoga workout can make you wish you chose something more mellow, like running J. But you can also pick from...

Sleep and my Migraines

I do believe that most people understand the migraine-sleep connection. I did too, I knew about it pretty much from the beginning, but I was not as willing to do the appropriate changes as I should have been.

Then, after a couple of years with chronic, daily migraines that took my life away from me I finally started practicing proper sleep hygiene and it did help tremendously.

I go to sleep at the same time; I do wake up at...

On Sansert

Hi everyone, it's been a long time since I posted anything. I changed everything I do, so computer was out of question except for checking emails, now I am fine with being on the net. We also had some family issues which needed to be dealt with, and everything is fine now.

I decided to drop all of my summmer courses to have time to do something about my health. Since I stopped going to school the number of my migraines decreased, I...

General Update

Hi everyone. As far as my preventives I am on 5 mg of Sibelium and 20mg of Nortriptyline, Magnesium, Omega 3's, B2 and Daily Detox. My migraines are pretty much the same, luckily the very bad 3 weeks ended. I will see my doc again on Feb 26, he will most likely up the Nortriptyline. Yesterday my wrist went through a lot. I had an MRI and an arthrogram. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't fun either. My wrist still hurts a...

Second Opinion Doc

Today I saw the second opinion Doctor (My regular migraine doctor referred me). I am not going to lie, I had high hopes, based on everything he does. But to tell you the truth, I was disappointed a little. He went through my whole history, diagnosed me as having chronic migraines. After he looked at all the preventives I have tried he said that there are not many options (ha!). The next thing I am going to try is Sansert. Its success rate is...

Angry with my doctor

So I had my appointment yesterday. 2 hours in public transit each way and all I get from it is being frustrated, and it was 7F, -13 with the wind. We agreed I am gonna stay on the Sibelium for a little longer, since it was only a month. But then, when I asked him about Pseudotumor Cerebri I got the "typical" treatment: my MRI was normal (in his opinion it would show - ), I am too young and my neurological exam was...

New Year's Eve update

I have either had 2 good (and I mean good) weeks or something is working. I started all the supplements and Sibelium a month apart. I've been taking Sibelium for almost a month and the supplements for 2. I really hope it is working. The only thing that worries me is that I've had good weeks before, and since the migraine I've had on sunday I fell pretty much back to "normal". The thing that bothers me the most is my...

My Last Nerve Block

So I just had my last nerve block yesterday. It was my 8th. Can't say that they have helped, but at least I tried. Good news is that both the MRI and MRA were fine. The doctor told me to stop the Zanaflex, although I have only been on it for 6 weeks. I always slept right through the night and since I strated the Zanaflex I would wake up a few time every night. I would expect to sleep even better on a muscle relaxant, but oh well. He...

Hand Update

Another week, another MRI. So I saw a wrist specialist on thursday. He did some X-rays and said that he doesn't see anything on them, but since most movements are extremely painfull he would like to do an MRI of my wrist. Luckily they removed my cast and put me in a brace, which is much better. I can wash myself like normal people, I can type on the keyboard easily (Yey!). So for now, I am waiting for the MRI, and I have to wear the brace...
