ABOUT ME:

A former smoker of thirty years, Jim Christopher was finally able to kick the habit in 1993. His stop smoking program included a combination of gradual withdrawal, exercise, and proper diet. Jim detailed his stop smoking experience in the book Escape from Nicotine Country. Now all people trying to quit smoking can turn to Jim's book for advice and support as well as benefit from his simple program. Most recently, Jim launched the "Quit Nicotine Now" website where you can purchase his book and the new supplemental DVD.

Starting in 2000, Jim and other anti-smoking advocates have sponsored the "Funeral for the Unkown Smoker." The Funeral for the Unknown Smoker is an open-casket ceremony where former smokers share inspirational stories of triumph over cigarettes and nicotine addiction. The ceremony is also coupled with a free seminar on how to stop smoking.

Jim is also the founder of the respected SOS (Secular Organizations for Sobriety/ Save Our Selves) program. Founded in 1985, SOS was formed as an alternative to the AA Program. It grew from a small support group in Hollywood, California into an international organization with over 20,000 members.

The SOS alternative has received extensive coverage in hundreds of print media feature articles including the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times, the British Guardian, Newsweek, the Journal of the American Medical Association, Glamour, Playboy, Modern Maturity, Professional Counselor and Sober Times.

James Christopher's many other notable accomplishments include authoring: How to Stay Sober (Prometheus Books, 1988), Unhooked (Prometheus Books, 1989), and SOS Sobriety (Prometheus Books, 1992). He was also a contributor to Substance Abuse: A Comprehensive Textbook (Williams and Williams, 1997).
