Its Been Awhile

So I have been away for sometime working on other projects and decided to drop in to see how everyone has been doing. The first thing I noticed was the fact that the majortity of posts are from experts verses people living with the illness asking questions or just posting how their feeling.

Where has everyone gone? It used to be a great place to talke with others that truly understood each others plights and sometimes offer suggestions,...

Smoking Tied to Suicide Risk in Bipolar Disorder?????

Sometime you read things that make you go hmmmmmm. Wonder where the funding came from for this research because they could have saved tons of money and time had they just asked one of us well informed people living with the illness how smoking relates to our illness. It's very common for us to turn toward anything that would provide any relief of the thoughts and symptoms that come with our illness. The chemical make-up of nicotine acts as a...

Defining Oneself

Defining OneselfI have read so many posts and talked with enough people to the point of making me mental at times because of how they define themselves. So many of us define ourselves as bipolar first instead of who we really are.Bipolarism is an illness not much different that being diabetic, so why is it that people with diabetes don't come right out and tell people ....I am diabetic first?I guess where I am trying to go with this is that you...

The aka...Book

I had told you guys awhile back that I was in the process of
trying to get a book published called “There are no Magic Pills”. The major
hurdle as most of you already know was where to get the monies to actually get
it out there. I decided since money was a major object in my life to go with kind of a grass
roots effort.

Take what you can use and leave the rest is my motto.
Everything that I write is strictly advice....

Kids being over medicated & Misdiagnosed

Anyone happen to catch the story the other night on the CBS
news where doctors are listing kids as bipolar prescribing heavy hitter medications
after receiving large amounts of monies from pharmaceuticals? The number climbed
from 10 years ago of 20,000 kids to over 800,000 kids now listed as bipolar.

The sad thing about the whole mess is that the only thing
these doctors can be nailed on is not reporting the actual amounts...

Creativity Contest- Short Story " A Charmed Life "

“A Charmed Life” It was a beautiful fall day as the sun broke over the horizon. The rays of sunshine bounced off the white frost that covered the ground. The white crystals of ice signaled the coming of winter. A lone squirrel could be seen in the distance as it scampered about gathering its food supply for the coming season. He rustled about in the leaves,...

Creativity contest

As much as I love reading what people have to post in terms of their writing, poetry and art…I feel it has overtaken the boards of where people normally come looking for help, advice and support to help them get through some rough times. I find it hard to wade through the posts looking for these people in need or crisis. I can’t tell who is in need as I read through the posts…just the other day I read a post that...

Why I have feelings

I have finally figured out why I have feelings and emotions. I had always thought it was somehow related to being bipolar until watching the news last night. They were talking about all the medications in the water supply caused by many people taking medications and secreting it out and back through the system. They talked of doing tests on male fish in the watershed to see if that were a factor in them not breading as much. The...

Simple Blood Test coming soon?

Happen to be reading the news on NAMI when I came across an article pointing to MSNBC talking about being able to prove positive of the illness with a simple blood test. My first thought was…finally a way to stop doctors from prescribing a bunch of medications to people that aren’t bipolar right down to early childhood. It is scary how our kids are supposedly being diagnosed with the illness and then treated with adult...
