I have spent my entire life dealing with bladder and bowel incontinence and decided during my teenage years not to let it ruin my life. Wonderful parents, a great psychologist, and understanding school teachers, counselors and nurses allowed me to have somewhat of a normal childhood. It was my mother who decided diapers and plastic pants were her only option in keeping me dry and presentable. I was always known as the kid in the neighborhood who still needed diapers. On the other hand, school was a different story as I attended one for children and teens with disabilities. Incontinence was not uncommon here and the staff allowed my education level to progress while taking care of the diapering issue. After awhile it no longer bothered me and I decided to make the best of a bad situation.
It is still hard to believe that at 49 years of age, diapers and waterproof pants are an important part of my daily life. They have allowed me to be successful in my present occupation, have a nice home and vehicle, and, marry a wonderful and understanding woman.
