My current PSA is .01 eight years after seed implant and IMRT. This past two years I have experienced Gross Hemituria 4 times. After CAT Scans, Bladder inspections, ultra sounds no cause could be found. It was finally discovered after bleeding post DRE that the blood was coming from broken and weakened viens in the protstatic muscles. It is very irratating and scary, but other than passing some clots and blood it clears up very quickly. Not wonderful, but something I have learned to accept. Hope this helps other that may have had the same problem.
I finished IMRT for PCa about a year ago. Although my ejackulate is amber in color and just a few drops, I have just noticed a small amout of light colored red stain. I appears to be blood. Any ideas why this is happening? I am seeing my uro next month.
EJACULATE WILL BE STAINED FOR QUITE A WHILE. IT TAKES OVER A YEAR FOR THE RADIATED CELLS TO DIE. ALSO THE MUSCLE CONTRACTION DURING ORGASM CAUSES SMALL CAPULARIES TO BREAK. I DON'T THINK YOU HAVE ANYTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. IN MY CASE 8 YEARS LATER RADIATION CYSTITIS HAS CAUSED ME TO HAVE HEAVY BLEEDING. I HAVE CHANGED MY LIFE STYLE, A LITTLE LESS SEX, AND NOT TOO MUCH HEAVY LIFTING. SINCE DOING THIS I HAVE NOT HAD ANY BLEEDING EPISODES. I AM 73 YEARS OLD, SO JUST GETTING AN ERECTION IS HAPPINESS!!!
Thanks for the reply. My uro did not seem too concerned with my very tiny amount of blood in what is left of my semen. I am down to about 5-8 drops of amber colored stuff, and now stained with very little blood and specks of something like tissue. He said he would scope me if it does not clear. My PSA has stopped falling, but not going up -- at least for the past three tests. I suspect the radiation has progressed into tissue containing small blood vessels, but I hope it eventually stops. At 54, I feel overwhelmed...
You may or may not be aware of PSA bounce. It is not unusual for PSA to actually go up and down for several years. four year post radiation my PSA went from .2 to .4, scared the heck out of me. At my 5th year it dropped to .2, and now at 8 years it is holding at .01. You will have no semen will be non-existant soon. The cowpers gland will still produce a small amount as it did before your treatment.
You did not say what your PSA is, but until it gets to .2 or lower you are not in the clear.
