I did some reading on the site and found some information that you might find useful. Nothing online is as good or as important as seeing your doctor. Only you and he can determine what treatment is best for you. However, this might give you some information to help you ask the questions of your doctor that you need to ask. There are many good resources here at Health Central. Here are just a few. You might have seen this before, but just in case:

You can go here for a good overview of prostate issues, treatments, symptoms and medicines. 

Also, you are not alone and there are lots of support groups out there for you to get more information. The message boards are set up for people to discuss their common issues, treatments and what works and what doesn't. You can read more about the groups available here.  

Dr Matola's is a resident expert here on Health Central. He is a urologist and he wrote an article here specifically about the green light surgery. There are also members here who have had experience with the green light surgery. Gary's experience is outlined here. There is also some discussion about self catheterizations to help the issue.
