First of all; you are entitled to all the information that is available. If you doctor doesn't cooperate, I'd suggest finding one that does.
I did hours of research and read a lot passing infor and printouts to my husband.

The book Prostate Cancer for Dummies is excellent.
check the prostate cancer foundation web site My husband got his diagnosis in September. His urologist was not informative enough. Fortunately we had a friend who has been through it. He gave us info.
We have found a new urologist who is wonderful. My husband has been able to make a very educated decision about what to do in his case.
Look for a support group in your area. They have tons of information and talking to others can help a lot.

My husband was able to get a second opinion through our insurance through "Best Doctors" and which we got back today. It has been very informative and did confirm the first report.
We asked for everything from the urologist. The pathology report and labs etc. He willing gave us these. My husband is 59 and was diagnosed in August. He currently is looking at the treatment option of Brachytherapy but he is waiting until February 2008. He had another PSA in October and it came back normal 3.2
