Cabozantinib: A Miracle Drug in the Works?

By Robertb EZ, Health Guide Monday, March 21, 2011
For those with prostate cancer that has metastasized (spread) to the bone (like me)... we are praying that Hormone Therapy will prolong our lives two to six years or more. It is thought that this therapy can effectively stop the cancer from getting worse and maybe even have it regress a bit. This, of...

Where do you get the information that cabo may be approved within a year? That is great news for all of us. I remember when My specialist at a major research hospital  Oncologist told Me that Abiraterone would be approved by January 09.

The really good news is thew startup of new trials ,I have not seen it yet but perhaps it will soon start given the great results , I can not wait to do this drug

Thank you for the interest in Cabozantnib!  I am really wanting to get on it too.  My Urologist wants to wait until the Combined Hormone Therapy stops working.  I want to stop the bone metastisizing as soon as possible.

I was just in the hospital for 12 days and just am getting bacvk on my feet.  But, the company that makes it is 40 miles from me and I very much am hoping for more info.

Also, I am going to cover the Prostate Cancer Research Conference in September where I believe fresh info will be available when someone digs.  I will be digging!

Hi Robert, In this game one wants to get as much time out of every therapy as we can , so stayong on combined therapy is a great idea and if the casodex fails , go to nilandron , and estrogen patches on top of zolodex and avodart worked for 2 years for me , I am now stable on ketoconazole , I beleive to get into the cabo trial at present you would have to be failing hormone therapy and have organ involvement.

wishing you the best ,

Dan

Dear Dan:

On behalf of a lot of readers and myself... Thank You!!  What you are doing is exactly what we need here.  We all need to learn from each other; and I AM thinking about what to do after CHT no longer will do the job!

I am going to check with the manufacturer on Caboz!!

You are a good man, sir!!

A mate of mine sounds like he is in the same boat as you. Im so glad that I will now be able to tell him of this new hope. He has had radiation, chemo, hormone and was part of a clinical test drug so far un named. As a stage 4 you, like him are up against it. I hope you are all part of the solution to this mongrel of a disease and I hope the lives saved start with yours. Thanks for putting this on the net ,my friend will need every ounce of encouragement to keep trying.

Dear Harry:

Thank you!  After spending 28 of the last thirty days either in the hospital or in ER or at a mess of offices... I can use and welcome good cheer.

I keep fighting on.  I think that I currently have them all back on the right path (the origional antibiotic did nothing to stop a bad infection with my kidneys)!  In reality I am given about three years right now to live... and with new discoveries I may well pass that!

The key thing is that I am experiencing things that can help others!

I just got my first Nephrostomy Tube.  This is a tube that runs from the kidney and out my back to a small bag.  Anybody who wants to know about these things... plese just let me know.  I can now tell you the problems and benefits of Nephrostomy Tubes now.  I can also tell you what the operation is like and hopefully remove your fears.

The biggest and most important thing to me is helping others thru this prostate cancer fog before I die!
