Dear Chris,

PSA is a protein made in the prostate gland. There are many diseases that can cause it to go up. These include infection, inflammation, enlargement and cancer. Yes, 50 is high. But, I have seen it as high as 4,000. Please read some of my posts to get information about PSA. Your brother-in-law should see a urologist and get evaluated.

Good luck

Chris, Hi,  I had a PSA level of 48 at age 51yrs.  I had 6 weeks of radiation. I stopped taking all dairy products and take various vitamin supplements.  I am now 59yrs of age and remain healthy with a PSA of 0.5.  My eurologist is surprised at the result and suggests I could be cured, but to keep my fingers crossed.

Cheers Ross
