I've been recently diagnosed and my cancer is very early. My urologist recommends against surgery because I'm diabetic and overweight. I'd like to hear from anyone in similar circumstances.

I am sorry to hear that your tests came back cancer, but so glad to know you caught it very early!!
Back in January, Dr Marc Greenstein posted a sharepost about this very subject. I believe it might even be an answer to your request for information. Now while online information is no replacement for your doctor's advice, he does cover the subject quite well . You can read the entire article here.
He also wrote an article here about the subject profiling a 79 year old man with cancer and diabetes.
