I have lived most of my adult life with an enlarged prostate. Over the years I have been taking different medicines with only a little success. My PSA has always been low and my docs were not overly concerned since I still could pee when I needed to,however what was happening was that I was developing a diverticulum on my bladder. I am now 57 and last year I had a cystoscopy and I was told by my doc that I had a bladder of a 70 year old and a diverticulum (bulge) on my bladder that appeared to be as big as my bladder itself. The doctor explained that the diverticulum developed over the years by straining to pee.
In Jan 2008 I had the diverticulum removed and the greenlight procedure on my prostate performed. I can now go without straining and am happy with the results,however I now have a retrograde ejaculation and prostate pain after sex with urinary retention for a couple of days.
