Dear Dr. Motola:

I would like to get some clear information on what treatment I can get if radiation fails. I have been receiving Lupron, but my PSA is rising - is there anything that I can do?

Depending on your age, overall health and the extent of your disease, cryotherapy (freezing the prostate) may provide a suitable alternative to the Lupron. When Lupron therapy fails, the question of complete androgen blockade can also be raised. If you are not on an anti-androgen such as Casodex, this too may be a viable alternative.
