My husband was Dx with Prostate Cancer 7 years ago.  His age was 74 and he decided to wait and watch treatment.  He has been on Avodart and Flomax during the years and his PSA's have been 3.7 up to 7.8.  His last PSA was 4.89 or 9+ using the 50% Avodart measure.  His Dr discussed whether it is time to do something other than wait and watch.  He is now 81 and wonders if doing anything at this age will really prolong his quality of life or just continue to wait and watch.  He is healthy and very active but is on a pacemaker.  Any suggestions?????

Dr.Motola,

I have BPH since I was in my 30s, and I am in my late 50s now, my doctors told me about Avodart that can solve my BPH, but I read that this drug can have serious side effect on me. i.e. making me to lose my masclinity is this true?

Yes you are correct, using this drug could cause you to turn gay.

At least with Flomax the urologist tells me that only 8% of men have abnormal ejeculation.  This means that the semen goes "retrograde" and shoots into the bladder instead of out the penis.  The feeling is just as good and the orgasm powerful!  Unless your woman loves playing with semen... there will be no problem.  You and your partner will be happy!
