Dear Dr. Motola: After having very successful Green Light PVP surgery, I do not ejaculate. I was told that about 33% of men can still ejaculate normally after this procedure. Why can 33% still ejaculate and the rest not? (I know that the semen goes backwards in cases like mine).     ...

Is it possible to have the ejaculation "mechanisms" restored after PVP surgery i.e. to be able to ejaculate as before the surgery?

Is there any protocol/ standard for surgeries in urology specific to the preservation of pre-op function? The aim should be to ensure that all patients get their pre-op functions preserved. I know some doctors who are unable to preserve the pre-op function of patients because of carelessness on the doctors' part, i.e. incomplete removal of seminal vesicle when there should be complete removal, accidentally injuring the ejaculatory duct during surgery, lack of proper knowledge/experience in nerve preservation, etc. I just hope doctors become more careful when they mess with people's bodies. After all, the patient is the client. It is the client's money and it is the client's body they're dealing with.
