DO NOT GET A BIOPSY AT THIS STAGE!!!  I too am a bike rider (500 miles a month).  My PSA has climbed from 3.2 three years ago to 4.9 now.  I just turned 60 last July.  My natural medicine Doc had me do a blood test from ONCO Lab of Boston, which is the latest high tech test for cancer, anywhere in the body.  I did it twice, six months apart, and it came back negative both times.  That's the way to go to test if you have cancer, not a biopsy.  At $165 dollars each test, it's still WAY CHEAPER than having a biopsy, by hundreds of dollars!  You do have to ship the sample FedEx overnight, which is about $60.  I've read extensively on biopsies and you can get serious infections from them, even to the point of having to remove the prostate if things go wrong, or possibly becoming impotent.  And if the doc doesn't get his biopsy needles into an actual cancer area should there be cancer, it might give you a false negative report.  As a biker, an increased PSA can be a normal thing.  You need to get one of the new bike seats with a slit in the middle, or consider going to a soft seat as I did.  My PSA did drop back from a high of 5.9 to 4.9 now with the soft seat, also getting off the saddle once an hour to let the blood circulate.  By-the-way, I've also read extensively from holistic medicine doctors that the doctor who invented the PSA test now says it is nothing but junk, and thinks it should be eliminated as a cancer test.  All it shows is the size of the prostate, not if there is cancer.  Get you doc to order a ONCO Lab test for you.  Oh!  There's also the massage treatment route which has proven very effective in massaging the prostate to reduce the size.  It's what the doc does in a physical, but for about five minutes.  There are docs who do it, or can teach you how to do it yourself.  I won't go further!  DON'T GET A BIOPSY RIGHT NOW.  Ten or higher is considered something to be concerned about, if you trust PSA tests at all.  I don't.
