What is this Pain in my Penis?
OK, I have had this pain in my penis for about 10 years now(Im 35 now). The pain is in the region between the middle of my penis and the tip. It is not very painful, slight to occasionaly moderate. It feels as though the pain is specifically in my urethra. If I squeeze there I can feel the pain. Also, when I urinate, if I squeeze the tip of my penis just above where the pain is, the pain intensifies. For the entire time I have had this pain it has never gotten worse nor better, its always the same. Some facts about me:I am very healthy and in good physical shape, I am not on any medications, I have one sexual partner(my girlfriend) who does not have any stds, utis or any other problems in the region. I have not gone to see a doctor mostly because of lack of medical insurance and the fact that it is bearable. In addition, I do not have any discharge or any visible problem. I would love to get some ideas of what this could be and if anyone else has had a similar problem. Thanks, Michael
Hi Michael,
Pain of any kind is cause for concern, especially long term pain like you are describing.
Anytime you have pain in your penis, it's best to see your doctor particularly if there is a noticable difference when you are urinating. You can read here in the symptoms database, information about pain in the penis. Some common causes are listed below:
Common Causes
* Injury (such as that due to too much manipulation)
* Bites, either human or insect
* Pimples
* Genital herpes
* Inflammation of the prostate gland (prostatitis)
* Syphilis
* Nonspecific urethritis caused by chlamydia or gonorrhea
* Infection under the foreskin of uncircumcised men (balanitis)
* Reiter syndrome
* Priapism (persistent erection that does not go away)
* Peyronie's disease
* Cancer of the penis
* Infected penile prosthesis
* Sickle cell anemia
Remember, online sites are great resources for information so that you are able to ask the important questions that will help you manage your healthcare, however they can not take the place of your doctor's solid medical advice.
Hope this helps. Please stay in touch and let us know how you are doing!
