Q: Will avodart keep you awake if taken before bed?

Hi Monte-

 

Thanks for your question.  Here's a good resource for the Side Effects of Avodart.

 

The common side effects the article states that:

Sexual problems (e.g., impotence, decreased interest in sex, decrease in the amount of ejaculate/sperm) may infrequently occur, but then go away as your body adjusts to the drug. This medication may also cause breast enlargement and/or tenderness. If any of these effects persist or worsen, contact your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

 

There is no mention about Avodart affecting sleeping patterns.  Indeed it may help with getting restful sleep if it's successful at alleviating enlarged prostate, and decreasing the urgent need to go and helping empty the bladder more fully.

 

If you think it might be affecting your sleep, check with your doctor or pharmacist about changing your dosage schedule.
