Q: My boss has been diagnosed with prostate cancer after a hip replacement and the pain never seemed to go away.

PSA test was done and has prostate cancer.Psa levels 400. A close diet and medication brought levels down and radiation soon followed. Just finished in December with radiation treatment. He is 66 years old and took the month of January off to relax. Started experiencing extreme pain and had test done an cancer has spread to other bones, spine and jaw now. Rather aggressive! He was admitted last week in the hospital for morphine to reduce the pain and now is home on morphine pills. He sleeps most of the time and when awake is mostly delirious. Is there some other medication to help with pain but keep his mind clear?

Not knowing the reason for the hip replacement makes answering this question very difficult. If metastatic disease was to bone was identified at the time of the hip replacement, then it is possible that radiation to the bones may be beneficial. With a PSA of 400 it is very common to have metastatic disease to bone, and this can be very painful.
