Hi Kurbkrawler00,
It is very smart to ask for a second opinion. Two heads are better than one, right? While online sites like HealthCentral are great for getting information, they can not take the place of your doctor's solid medical advice.
Depending on the stage of your prostate cancer, there is a wait and see approach for some treatments. You can read a great overview about prostate cancer here. The treatment options per stage and grading are listed here. Stage 1 cancer is treated with a watch and wait. Hormone therapy is started if symptoms appear.
If there is a high instance of cancer in your family history, you might want to discuss more radical treatments with your doctor.
I hope this helps! Please stay in touch and let us know how you are doing!
