Q: Results were not good. I have prostate cancer in both lobes.

Results were not good.  I have prostate cancer in both lobes.

PSA of 9.8

Gleason 7 4+3,

6 out of 12 cores positive, 20% and 30%.

Bone scan negative.  CT scan says no "definite" metastisis, however, a 2.5-cm segment ll and 1.8 cm caudate lobe liver hypodense lesions were seen(possibly cysts or biliary hamertoma.  Also, a 1.3 cm left kidney hypodense lesion was evident( possibly cyst). There was dependent atelectasis in both lung bases.

A tiny sclerotic focus on left femoral head (likely bone island). Bladder was unremarkable.  A prostatic calcification is noted.  Everything else was unremarkable.

I'm waiting to see the oncologist/urologist on April 7th.  With all of this stuff found I'm nervous about what further testing may find.  I have these results but the doctor will not go over them until my appointment with him.  Should I be worried or does all of this sound like incidental findings?  I've been hurting in my lower back and hip for 2 months now.  I know the chances of bone metastisis are very slim with my psa being under 10....but the bone island on my femoral head is a little weird to say the least.  Bone scans don't always pick up small lesions....so I'm hoping that this really is just a bone island and nothing to worry about.  Any advice would be most helpful at this point.

Thanks,

Bob

If the bone island is truly what it is described as then there should not be any worry regarding metastatic disease. Given your PSA reading and the volume of disease that is present, it seems that you have contained disease that should be curable.
