Q: When do you start counting the time for 5 year survival rates? My dad was diagnosed with Prostate cancer Feb 2007

Key dates;
Feb 2007 original diagnosis, Gleason score is 9, PSA is 197

Aug 2007 completed radiation treatment and taking hormone injection

Jan 2008 PSA down to barely detectable

Dec 2009 PSA on the rise again

Jan 2010  Bone mets diagnosed, add casodex and PSA drops

Sep 2010 PSA on the rise again, drop casodex, no real response (drop from 3.8 to 3.2)

Oct 2010 Referred to Medical Oncologist

What is the prognosis at this point?

Your 5yr survival count from the day of your diagnosis,this is only for the treatment that he is on.He can live for many years.Today there is a lot of treatment with anticancer medicine.
