Q: Had 2 prostate biopsies, 2008 & 2011. Both negative. PSA continues to slowly climb. From 8 to 9.5 and now 10. Could diet or meds affect the level? I take Synthroid/Atenolol/Warfarin/Simvastatin.

The significance of a rising PSA is definitely more difficult to answer without knowing your age.  The medications that you are taking should not have any bearing on your PSA. Perhaps this could represent prostatitis, and a course of antibiotics should be considered to see the PSA response prior to considering an additional biopsy.

Have the Dr. do a PSA 2 or PSA 3 in the future. 3 is real expensive. Beats 12 more holes in you rear.  If its low no need to biop. I had up to psa 20 in last 14 yrs. 5 biop's Nothing. Large  Prostate causes rise. Other things. Basic  PSA is not the Holy Grail they make it out to be.

Thank you very much. I'll get in touch with my Urologist about doing a PSA 2 next time.

Do not let it eat you. I have found out up to 10% of us run crazy and Never come down with anything but BPH. But they NEVER tell you that. The tests the tests someone needs to pay for the Rolls. Your the perfect canidate. The high score flyies you thru any Ins. limits or oversite. They will run you ragged till  you get smart and say no.
