Q: more questions about Avodart and effect on ejaculation

My husband finished hormonal blocking treatment 6 months ago and has been on Avodart for the last 2 months.  After he finished his treatment, he was able to experience ejaculations.  Now, it seems that he has lost that ability.  Is it due to the Avodart?  And is this loss of ejaculation permanent, while on Avodart?  Thanks for your time.

Hello Charron,

Thank you for your question. The resources that I've looked at do not mention loss of ejaculation as a side effect. If this only occured once your husband started taking the medication, and you don't know of anything else that could have caused it, he may want to speak with his doctor about what's going on. There is a similar medication (finasteride, brand names Proscar) available that may not cause the same side effects. Keep in mind that while this and other online resources are helpful to gain information about a particular subject, the information you get here should not replace the advice of your physician, as he or she is better informed about your individual situation.

Best of luck!

Casey
